Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Oreos

A childhood favorite, reinvented

Whether you’re a twist-and-lick or bite-right-through kind of person, there’s no denying that Oreos were a childhood favorite cookie. Though a package still sneaks its way into the pantry here and there when we’re having a particularly vulnerable day at the grocery store, there’s nothing quite like re-making a nostalgic treat at home. Inspired by a scene in the 1998 movie The Parent Trap where the sisters dip Oreos into peanut butter, Tieghan creates her own Oreo-inspired sandwich cookie. Tender chocolate cookies are baked then topped on one side with a homemade creme filling and on the other side with a dollop of peanut butter. When you put the two together, it’s just like you remembered it as a kid. Biting through the cookies leads to the sweetness of the creme then the addictive stickiness of the peanut butter that you just can’t seem to get off your teeth (that’s a good thing). Just make sure to have a big glass of milk nearby to wash it down.
