We’ve talked about dried beans before as one of our favorite budget-friendly ingredients. What you’ll save in money, however, is often offset by how much time it takes to cook dried beans, especially when you have to soak them overnight before boiling. Well, we discovered a great way to “quick soak” dried beans in an hour!
Wash and rinse the dried beans then add to a large pot. Cover with several inches of water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, uncovered, then remove from the heat, cover, and let sit for 1 hour. Drain and use like any other dried and soaked bean.
Even if you forget to put the beans in water the night before, this technique allows you to still use any dried bean on the same day. Yes, you can save money AND time!
